Rants 12/8

I have to say that I am starting to like this blogging thing. I know I haven't written much about actual school work per say but I do enjoy putting my thoughts online. I have to start out by saying I got really disgusted with the news again this week., I have been laid off since 12/30/2008 almost a year. If it had not been for the Employment Compensation extension by the government I don't think I would not have made it this far.On Tuesday I recieved a letter from unemployment stating that they had granted an extension to the unemployment package for another 14 weeks. Yet at the bottom it also stated that the EC benefits would be starting to be phased out at the end of December. How can you send a letter ro someone telling them you will be recieiving an extension and yet the benefits will begin bewing phased out?? This crap makes absolutely no sense. I know they are saying economy is getting better but I still dont see it. I do see the prices of food going up. They were supposed to have come down when the gas prices did. I still have nor seen that happen. I also saw on my local news atation where they did a piece on how toy companies were making and lowering prices on some toys so that people copuld afford to shop and by them. If companies are willing to llower prices for toys why can;t they do same thing for food and things people need just to survive. I still can't figure out where this country gets its priorites at. Oh well Have a good week all see you in seminar.

  1. Hi Lisa!
I hate to repeat myself, but, I love your weekly rants! You give us all something to think about. I was just thinking how you should team up with Glen Beck! I love his show. It is completely unfair how the government is playing with our lives. You were one of the fortunate to get the unemployment (although they may take it away).
I was unable to recieve this benefit, despite the fact that upon returning to work after a medical leave, they no longer had a position available for me. I tried to fight it, but my employer lied, and I was denied. How is it that an employer is given the right to destroy a persons life? Now, we are about to loose our home, we have very little food, and the electric is about to be turned off. I just got a part time position with Rite Aid with hopes of full time after May. But I fear this hope will come too late. The government has no right to play with peoples lives. There is no way to fight it.
I do have a thought on the lowering of toy prices and not food. They are playing on the guilt parents feel at Christmas time. With the way the economy is, they act like they are helping Santa out, but they are counting on parents to buy the toy instead of buying food or paying a bill that is due.
I feel so helpless right now. Which makes it hard to concentrate on my studies. I still have my faith, which is the only thing no one can take from me.
Best Wishes in this class! And keep up the rants!
